Valnet Inc. and its CEO File Lawsuit Against The Wrap News Inc. for Defamation, Unfair Competition and Other Illegal Actions

MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Valnet Inc. (“Valnet”) and its Co-Founder and CEO, Hassan Youssef, have filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware against The Wrap News Inc. (“The Wrap”) for defamation, unfair competition and other illegal actions taken by The Wrap in connection with an article published by The Wrap on March 20, 2025 smearing Valnet and Mr. Youssef.

The Complaint alleges that The Wrap’s article, which is presented as a work of investigative journalism, is nothing more than an inflammatory hit piece that prioritizes sensationalism at the expense of an accurate narrative. Valnet asserts that the article is replete with false, inaccurate and defamatory statements about Valnet and Mr. Youssef, and is an effort by The Wrap, a competitor of Valnet, to gain an illegal and improper commercial advantage over Valnet and its renowned entertainment publications, which include ScreenRant and Collider, amongst others. Valnet is confident that by this action The Wrap will be found liable and responsible for its malicious and illegal conduct.

Valnet’s mission is to create high-quality content for its global community of passionate readers and fans. To achieve this, Valnet invests millions annually in content creation by its valued contributors, which include journalists and other content creators who are experts in their respective fields. Valnet’s monetary investments are particularly notable at the present time, when the publishing industry is facing significant headwinds and challenges from emerging technologies.
