Allard Prize Announces 2025 Award Finalists

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Allard Prize for International Integrity, one of the world's leading anti-corruption prizes, has announced the finalists for the 2025 Allard Prize. The Award Ceremony will take place on June 17, 2025, at New York City’s Tribeca Rooftop, where the Allard Prize winner will receive a $100,000 CAD prize.

This year’s honorees are extraordinary individuals whose efforts have opposed corruption, illuminated truth, and advanced justice in some of the world’s most challenging environments. They have demonstrated remarkable courage in the face of entrenched corruption, advocating for the rule of law and transparency. The 2025 Allard Prize finalists are:

  • Abdalle Ahmed Mumin – A prominent Somali journalist, human rights activist, and cofounder of the Somali Journalists Syndicate (SJS).
  • Andréa Ngombet – A Congolese civil society leader, political activist, expert on kleptocracy, and the founder of the Sassoufit Collective.
  • Virginia Laparra – The former head of the Special Prosecutor’s Office Against Impunity (FECI) in Guatemala.

The Award Ceremony will celebrate these global anti-corruption champions and also address the importance of tackling corruption in the West, where powerful nations play a significant role in shaping the international anti-corruption landscape. The program will feature short documentaries highlighting the finalists' work, along with a keynote address by Sarah Chayes, an award-winning journalist, author, and former advisor to the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, known for her expertise on corruption.

“Our Allard Prize finalists are principled leaders who have prioritized justice in governance and transparency, often at the expense of their own personal interests and safety,” said Dr. James Stewart, Chair of the Allard Prize Board. “As we honor and support these courageous individuals, we must also acknowledge that corruption is a global challenge that transcends borders. In showcasing our laureates’ stories, we hope to stimulate insight and inspire emulation. Their stories are full of hope and resilience, we can all learn from their examples.”

Established in 2012, the Allard Prize is awarded biennially to an individual, movement, or organization that has displayed remarkable courage and leadership in working to oppose corruption. The nonprofit organization is dedicated to telling stories about courage, inspiring change globally, and collectivizing to create lasting change that fosters accountability and the rule of law.
